BridgeTies

California Child Support Calculator · Fam. Code §4055 · Mediation Edition

BridgeTies is a Windows application I built for one purpose: making the California guideline child support calculation fully transparent. Every input, every tax figure, and every intermediate value is shown on screen and cited to its statutory source — nothing happens inside a black box.

Support calculations are, at their core, tax calculations: federal brackets, California tables, self-employment tax, the §199A deduction, credit phase-outs — all of it feeds net disposable income before the guideline formula ever runs. BridgeTies applies the same rigor to those numbers that I bring to forensic engagements, and shows its work the way an expert should.

Cal. Fam. Code § 4055(a)
CS = K[HN (H%)(TN)]

Fully itemized

Net disposable income under FC §§4058–4059, federal and California taxes for 2026, §4062 add-ons split by income share, and per-child allocation.

What-If scenarios

Vary timeshare and spousal support side by side and compare each party's net spendable income — the conversation mediation actually needs.

Reports parties can read

Mediation-ready PDF reports with every line carrying its statutory citation. Built to be handed across the table, not decoded.

Offered free during the pre-certification period. BridgeTies has not been certified under California Rules of Court, rule 5.275, and its output is not the presumptively correct guideline calculation for court proceedings. It is built for mediation, negotiation, settlement evaluation, and education while certification is pursued.
